Compress PDF

Reduce PDF file size without losing quality

Smaller sizeBetter quality

Reduce the size of a PDF file. Useful when a file is too large to email, upload to a form, or store comfortably.

How compression works here

The tool first re-saves the PDF with internal compression, which shrinks most files a little without any quality loss. If stronger settings are selected, it can also rebuild image-heavy pages (like scans) as compressed JPEG pages — that usually saves a lot, at the cost of text becoming part of the image. Whichever result is smaller is the one you get.

What to expect

Scanned documents and photo-heavy PDFs shrink the most. Text-only PDFs that were exported from Word or similar tools are already efficient and may barely change — in that case keep your original.

Worth knowing

  • Lower quality means a smaller file. For scans meant to be read on screen, 60-70% is usually still perfectly readable.

Files are processed entirely in your browser — nothing is uploaded to a server.
